Decided in Sedona, home started sounding good. 12 hours from Sedona, so I figured I’d shave 4 hours down and have an overnight in Vegas. Did typical vegas shenanigans…
In the morning, left for sacramento, and just like that, trip was over.
4500 miles and 21 days. Lots was done, seen, learned and experienced. Good trip.
After kitt peak….wasnt tires….midnight drive to Sedona, AZ.
It was like Moab, but more high end….
$50 and you get probably one of the best spent $50 experiences…especially if you dont know too much about the stars.
There is something surreal about seeing things in the sky with your own eyes. We looked at far off galaxies and planets. And they look like the pictures…except you see them with your own eyes. Didnt have a way to take pictures via telescope, bit here is the area.
So my lodgings for the night (night 18 I think…) was in La Mesa. Farm country between Las Cruces and El Paso, TX. Ended up eating and drinking with the locals at a biker bar. Bought some jerky and cheese as well from some random guy…imported from mexico.
Wow. Just wow. I always find how our landscape formed to be very interesting.
….freaking Roswell. Got attacked.
Here are just a few of my favorites….
What a cool downtown. A lot of the architecture, both downtown and surrounding area have that stereotypical santa fe look. Overall, high on the must see list if youre around.
Great, great park. Good little main trail with lots to see and learn about. Basically, much of the main trail displays a lot of old dwellings of, I believe, Pueblos. The place is in a canyon, but you wouldnt know it was out there.
There is an alcove where a dwelling is.
Here you can see the actual remaining architecture and how they would have looked.
Some pics of the overall canyon.
South of Denver near Westcliffe, CO, lies Mission: Wolf. A wolf rescue and sanctuary.
Got to feed and hang out with the wolves. We fed them a freshly processed horse which I missed the processing….actually wanted to see it. They get horses from local ranches who have horses that just have died or need to be put down.
Anyhow, good cause, good people and good place. They try to be very sustainable.
Visit and donate!!
Here they are howling. They would do this a lot. In the mornings and nights are the best.
